ONE ArtCenter|XDT International Choreographic residency program

This program aims to invite French dancers or body concept artists to participate in a 6-8-week creative residency at ONE ArtCenter (Integrated Art Hub)—an artistic space founded by Xiexin Dance Theatre. Boasting three rehearsal spaces (144-224 square meters each), a black box theater, and private artists' lounges, the center provides hardware facilities to support artists in independent and focused creation. Additionally, leisure spaces such as an art book corner, café, and fitness center seamlessly blend work with the romantic experience of the residency. We hope public spaces will foster in-depth communication with local peers and profound reflection on one’s own creations, offering a dreamlike and utopian environmental support for dance art creation.

Furthermore, based on the residency content, we will conduct in-depth co-creation with artists and provide additional resources beyond space—including ten outstanding and seasoned full-time contemporary dancers from Xiexin Dance Theatre, lighting designers, costume designers, publicity and administrative teams, photographers, and documentary directors. Our goal is to maximize support for and explore the "chemical reactions" between participants of diverse cultural backgrounds brought about by international cultural residency creations, while promoting positive interactive effects involving local audiences.

International resident artists and teams will engage in an in-depth 6-8-week residency at ONE ArtCenter. Centered on public issues jointly discussed by all parties, the residency will explore divergent possibilities under the theme, co-discovering new body vocabulary and creative pathways. The creative outcomes will ultimately be shared through one or more black box theater performances. We also aspire for the works to reach more lifestyle and cultural public spaces in Shanghai, enabling more dialogues with people in relevant life scenes and contexts.
