Shadows of Life

Xiexin Dance Theatre brings together six international choreographersto co-create this special evening, unfolding in two parts.

This is a night of overlapping presences—of gazes meeting, bodies touching, spirits connecting, and lives dancing together.

The project emerged from a conversation about a fundamental question: Why dance? It’s about sharing and connection, which became the common voice uniting all the artists involved.

The first half presents an international commissioned work by Xiexin Dance Theatre, turning its gaze towards a cavernous inner world of humanity reflected in the black mirror-like dance floor.

In the second half, Artistic Director XIE Xin , as both choreographer and performer, invites four international choreographers and dancers of diverse artistic styles into choreographic dialogues. On stage, twelve performers and twelve special participants become interconnected, like layers within a multiple-exposure negative. As the stage space continuously shifts and flows, overlapping images of life emerge into focus, expressing a shared voice of dance—one that connects and heals the performers and audience alike.

This unique collaborative creation is titled Shadows of Life.
